How can I password protect a directory?

Step by step guide to password protect your directory using CPanel

1. You will need to create a new directory inside your public_html, let name it For Ex: secure. You need to create this new directory inside public_html. Login to your account using ftp, go inside public_html and create that new directory there.

2. Upload the page that you want to protect inside that new directory you just created.

3. Login to cpanel

4. Go to access menu -> web protect

5. You will see a set of icons with their name, click on the name to select the directory or click on the icon to go inside that directory. For this, click on the name secure which you just created.

6. At the bottom enter the username and password and click on add new user.

7. CLick on "go back"

8. Check the "lock" box, enter the resource name and click on save.

9. You have successfully password protect that directory.
